Details

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of sophisticated jazz at this special live-taping concert! The Brad Leali Jazz Ensemble feat. Carla Helmbrecht brings together two of the most talented performers in contemporary jazz for an intimate listening-room experience.

Grammy-nominated vocalist Carla Helmbrecht's sensitive and sophisticated vocal stylings perfectly complement the soulful, blues- and swing-influenced sound of saxophonist Brad Leali. Together, they explore classic jazz standards and original materials, infusing historical and modern components into their unique arrangements. Tonight, this dynamic duo will be joined by Brad's GROOVE-tet—a powerful 10-piece large band that delivers an energetic, swinging sound.

Brad Leali is one of the most notable saxophonists of current times, having toured and recorded with jazz greats including Harry Connick, Jr. and the Count Basie Orchestra. He was a standing member of the Kennedy Center Honors Band and performed for President Obama's first inaugural celebration. Currently, he's the Professor of Jazz Saxophone at the University of North Texas.

Carla Helmbrecht's recordings have earned prominent positions on jazz charts, with her album "Be Cool Be Kind" debuting as "the most added jazz record on radio in the nation" and receiving three Grammy nominations. She's a featured artist on numerous recordings, television productions, and major motion picture films.
