Rachel Spencer Quintet
Step into an evening of intimate, modern jazz with the Rachel Spencer Quintet, captured live in a true listening-room setting. This special concert doubles as a live taping, so you’ll not only hear the music in the moment, you’ll also be part of the recording itself.
Austin-based trumpeter Rachel Spencer is celebrated for her expressive tone, stylistic flexibility, and grounded stage presence. Drawing inspiration from greats like Blue Mitchell, Kenny Garrett, and Roy Hargrove, her sound lands in that sweet spot between modern groove and post-bop tradition—soulful, thoughtful, and deeply musical.
Rachel’s resume spans national and international tours, including holding the lead trumpet chair on the North American Broadway tour of The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy. Off the road, she’s a dedicated educator and ensemble director, with a debut album, The Next Right Thing, on the horizon.
This show is designed as a true listening experience. Because it’s a live taping, a “whisper-policy” will be in effect, keeping the room focused and quiet so every nuance of the band’s interplay comes through. Expect an evening where the details matter: dynamics, phrasing, and the kind of musical conversation that only happens when everyone in the room is locked in.
