Who Killed the Referee? Murder Mystery WLW Singles Event
Details
Suit up, sports fans and hopeless romantics—there’s a scandal on the field and sparks in the air at “Who Killed the Referee? Murder Mystery WLW Singles Event” at 1972 Pub.
Step into a playful, sports-themed whodunit hosted by Lin Cognito, Austin’s pun-loving, match-making, time-traveling detective. She’s on the case, but she needs your help to crack it.
You’ll team up with other singles to hunt down clues, solve clever puzzles, and take big swings at theories about who took out the ref. Think less awkward small talk, more “did you see that clue?” chemistry.
This night is designed specifically for female-identifying and non-binary singles, so you can relax into a space that feels welcoming, affirming, and ready for a little flirty detective work.
There are no forced icebreakers or cheesy name tags—just organic conversation as you piece together the mystery, share theories, and maybe share a toast when your team gets closer to the truth.
Things might get heated on the case (and maybe a little off it), as you trade side-eye over suspicious alibis, compare notes, and see who you naturally click with while the investigation unfolds.
The setting, 1972 Pub, is Austin’s first bar dedicated to women’s and gender-expansive sports, celebrating the spirit of Title IX with wall-to-wall athletic energy and a mission to uplift athletes who don’t always get the spotlight.
Expect the vibe of a watch party crossed with a detective game and a low-pressure singles mixer—perfect if you’d rather solve a murder than swipe endlessly on your phone.
Between clue-hunting rounds, you’ll have plenty of chances to chat with different players, compare scorecards on suspects, and see if that person you’ve been bantering with might just be your new favorite teammate.
Whether you crack the case, meet your match, or just enjoy a clever, campy mystery in a queer-friendly sports bar, you’ll walk away with a story that’s way better than “we met on an app.”
Grab your sharpest instincts, your best sideline banter, and maybe a lucky jersey—the ref may be down, but the game of love is very much on.
