Love, Loss & OTHER CONSTELLATIONS
Details
Love, Loss & OTHER CONSTELLATIONS isn’t just a performance — it’s a deeply felt invitation to gather, remember, and move forward together.
KDH Dance Company’s newest evening-length work brings some of Austin’s most sought-after dancers and musicians into an intimate, almost in-the-round setting. With the audience wrapped close around the performers, every seat feels like the front row, and every gesture lands with extra emotional weight.
This premiere is the company’s first new creation since the passing of founder Kathy Dunn Hamrick, and you can feel her presence woven into every detail. Original choreography, live music, costume design, and lighting design all converge into a journey that feels like sailing through the night guided by a distant, steady lighthouse. The piece navigates gratitude and heartbreak, honoring Kathy’s legacy while charting a new course fueled by community support and artistic courage.
Across four performances from May 29–31, you’ll experience:
- A 60-minute performance with no intermission, designed to sweep you up and keep you there
- Immersive staging from three sides, pulling you into the heart of the action
- Thoughtful seating where nearly every chair is a front-row view, plus a limited number of elevated director’s chairs for a unique perspective
- A relaxed pre-show hang in the lobby and bar starting 30 minutes before curtain — time to grab a drink, mingle, and soak in the atmosphere
At its core, Love, Loss & OTHER CONSTELLATIONS is about exactly what the title promises: the people we love, the losses that shape us, and the shifting constellations of community and memory that keep us moving. It’s a celebration of Kathy’s vision and of the supportive, “badass” community that continues to lift KDH Dance Company up.
- Expect to feel: moved, connected, and inspired to keep making and supporting local art
- Perfect for: dance lovers, live music fans, and anyone craving an intimate, meaningful night out

On May 29, 2026 at 12:00 pm, step into this luminous universe of movement and music, and help carry Kathy’s legacy forward: let’s dance, let’s gather, and let’s keep filling the sky with new constellations.
