Monday Night Skate
Details
Lace up, light up, and get ready to glide through the city at Monday Night Skate, rolling out from the Long Center Terrace on June 8, 2026 at 8:00 pm.
Every Monday (weather permitting), the crew gathers at 7:45 pm to gear up, say hello to new friends, and then hit the pavement right at 8:00 pm for a 10–15 mile skate around Austin. This is your chance to experience the city at night in the coolest way possible—on wheels.
This is a true urban adventure, so you’ll be skating through a mix of streets, bike lanes, sidewalks, hills, and even parking garages along the way. Expect smooth stretches, some sprints, a few climbs, and plenty of swooping descents with the skyline glowing around you.
Because the group covers serious ground, this ride is geared toward experienced skaters who are comfortable in city environments.
Recommended pace: you should be able to maintain around 10 mph without burning out.
Urban ready: confident navigating traffic, bike lanes, and mixed surfaces.
Control skills: reliable stopping power and solid speed management on hills are a must.
Safety is part of the vibe, not a buzzkill. Think bright lights, smart gear, and lots of visibility so the whole pack can roll safely together.
Bring a front and rear light so you can see and be seen.
Pack water to stay hydrated for the full 10–15 mile route.
Helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended.
If you’re not quite sure you’re ready for a faster, longer skate through the heart of the city, you’re encouraged to warm up your skills first at a SK8ATX Wednesday Night Skate. Those sessions are better suited for advanced beginners and intermediate skaters who are still building confidence before stepping up to Monday’s pace and distance.
Whether you come solo or with friends, Monday Night Skate is all about community, flow, and that unbeatable feeling of rolling together under the city lights. Show up a little early, gear up, and get ready to cruise.
