Blanton All Day: Summer Dance Series "The Tango Edition"
Details
Blanton All Day is turning up the heat with its Summer Dance Series, and The Tango Edition is ready to sweep you off your feet. This special day at the Blanton Museum of Art blends sultry Argentine tango with world-class art, live music, and an all-day museum experience.
Two tango lessons with Esquina Tango – Dip your toes (and heels) into tango with two beginner-friendly classes from the pros at Esquina Tango. No partner, no experience, no problem: these sessions are designed to get absolute beginners moving with confidence and give returning dancers a chance to refine their style.
Lesson schedule – The first class runs from 4:00 to 4:30 pm, perfect for warming up and learning the basics. After a break filled with music and mingling, the second lesson from 6:00 to 6:30 pm lets you build on what you’ve learned and add a little extra flair to your steps.
Live tango music by Hora Once – Between and after the classes, the dance floor transforms into a milonga, a classic tango social. Live music from Hora Once sets the mood with rich, nostalgic melodies that make it impossible to stay seated for long.
All-ages, welcoming vibe – This is a family-friendly event where seasoned dancers, curious first-timers, and kids discovering tango for the first time all share the same floor. The pricing is structured so everyone can join in, from tiny dancers to tango-obsessed teens.
Blanton Members get extra perks – Members enjoy free admission to the event along with special savings at the Museum Store, making this the perfect excuse to make a full art-and-dance day out of it.
An artful tango adventure – In between lessons and songs, you can wander the galleries, relax on the patio, and soak in the Blanton’s exhibitions. It’s a rare chance to pair the drama and romance of tango with the visual inspiration of the museum’s collections.
Why you’ll love it – Maybe you’ve always wanted to try tango, maybe you just love live music, or maybe you’re hunting for a unique date idea or group outing. This event delivers a full experience: learn, dance, listen, explore, and connect with other tango-curious Austinites all in one vibrant afternoon and evening.
What to bring – Comfortable shoes you can pivot in, clothes you can move in, and a healthy dose of curiosity. The atmosphere is social, relaxed, and encouraging, so you can leave any fear of “two left feet” at the door.
Blanton All Day: Summer Dance Series “The Tango Edition” turns the museum into a dance hall for one unforgettable afternoon and evening. Whether you stay for a quick lesson or dance through the milonga until the last song, you’ll step away with new moves, new memories, and maybe even a new obsession with tango.
