Details

Alok Vaid-Menon is bringing their singular blend of comedy, poetry, and piercing social commentary to the historic Paramount Theatre for a one-night-only experience that anchors Majestic Ball Week.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, the theatre lights go down and ALOK steps into the spotlight at 8:00 pm, following doors and a member cocktail hour at 7:00 pm. This special performance is part of the Paramount’s annual Pride celebration, The Majestic Ball Week, setting the tone for a full slate of queer joy, art, and community.

ALOK (they/them) is an internationally acclaimed poet, comedian, public speaker, and actor. Their work dances between hilarity and heartbreak, mixing stand-up, storytelling, and poetic monologues to explore gender, belonging, and what it means to be fully human in public.

  • Author of “Beyond the Gender Binary,” “Femme in Public,” and “Your Wound, My Garden,” which have resonated with readers around the world
  • Has performed in over 40 countries, including sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Netflix Is a Joke Festival
  • Creator and star of the comedy special “BIOLOGY!” executive produced by Christopher Guest
  • Subject of the Sundance-premiering docu-short “ALOK,” executive produced by Jodie Foster and directed by Alex Hedison

You may also recognize ALOK from their on-screen work, where they keep pushing boundaries across film and television.

  • Film and documentary appearances include Complicated Order, The Trans List, and the forthcoming Absolute Dominion
  • Television credits include HBO’s Sex Lives of College Girls, Sort Of, and Random Acts of Flyness
  • Featured on Hulu’s Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne
  • Appears in Netflix’s Gender Agenda Comedy Special and Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

This Paramount Theatre show lands right in the middle of Majestic Ball Week, the venue’s vibrant Pride tradition that builds momentum toward the legendary Majestic Ball. Expect an audience filled with queer and trans folks, allies, artists, and fans who love their comedy smart, bold, and gloriously unapologetic.

What to look forward to during the evening:

  • Razor-sharp stand-up that flips gender norms and binaries on their head
  • Poetic storytelling that moves from laugh-out-loud funny to quietly devastating in seconds
  • Moments of reflection on identity, visibility, and tenderness in a world obsessed with categories
  • A shared sense of celebration, resistance, and community that makes Pride season at the Paramount feel electric

Whether you know ALOK from their books, their viral clips, or their screen roles, seeing them live is a completely different experience: intimate, disarming, and often life-affirming. This night is a chance to be part of a roomful of people collectively exhaling, laughing, and reimagining what’s possible.

If you’re building out your Majestic Ball Week plans or just want a night of thoughtful, boundary-pushing comedy, circle June 4 and get ready for an evening that’s as hilarious as it is healing.
