Fire up your inner time traveler, because the Austin Civic Orchestra is taking over the Zilker Hillside Theatre with “It’s About Time,” a free outdoor pops concert that’s all about your favorite adventures across time and space.

This year’s theme zooms straight through timelines and galaxies with music inspired by iconic time travel stories. Expect a cinematic night under the stars packed with crowd-pleasers like:
Themes from Terminator 2 – bring on the epic percussion and futuristic intensity.
The Shepherd’s Boy – the emotional Doctor Who favorite that hits you right in the feels.
Somewhere in Time – lush, romantic, and perfect for a warm summer night.
Interstellar – sweeping, spacey, and absolutely made for listening under the open sky.
Doctor Who themes – because what is a time travel concert without the Doctor?
Portals from Avengers: Endgame – that goosebump-inducing, heroes-assemble moment in symphonic form.
Quantum Leap and more – a nostalgic nod to classic time-hopping adventures.
The concert is laid-back and family-friendly, the kind of night where kids run around the hillside, friends share snacks, and even well-behaved dogs get to enjoy the music. Pack a picnic, grab a blanket or a low lawn chair, and stake out your favorite patch of grass as the sun goes down and the orchestra tunes up.
One of the most beloved traditions of this annual Zilker Park concert returns as well: the chance for an audience member to step onto the podium. During the finale, Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, the orchestra raffles off an opportunity for one lucky winner to conduct the piece. You come for the movie magic; you just might leave having conducted a full symphony orchestra.
