Austin's Global Running Day
Details
Lace up, Austin! Global Running Day is getting the full East Side treatment at Central Machine Works for the 12th annual social run with East Side Beer Runners and Statesman Cap10K.
This is the “club of clubs” gathering: a giant mash-up of running crews, casual joggers, walkers, and anyone who just wants to move, mingle, and toast to the miles together. All abilities are welcome, and participation is free.
The evening kicks off with a 6:00 p.m. meet ‘n’ greet so you can find your pace buddies, say hi to familiar faces, and meet a few new running friends before the routes head out.
- 6:00 p.m. – Meet ‘n’ Greet and community hang
- 6:15 p.m. – Shoe demo check-in
- 6:25 p.m. – Pre-run intro and route rundown
- 6:30 p.m. – Social run start (5 mi, 3 mi, or 1 mi options)
- 8:00 p.m. – Raffle time
- 8:29 p.m. – Sunset vibes
- 9:00 p.m. – Run ends, good times continue
You can run, walk, or do a mix—pace groups will help organize both the 3-mile and 5-mile routes, and two aid stations on course keep things friendly for those not yet “Texas summer fit.” Printed maps and digital routes are available, and you can pull up the courses on the RunGo app by searching “Austin’s 2026 Global Running Day (5, 3, or 1 mi).”
Shoe geeks, rejoice: arrive early for the best selection of demo shoes from PUMA, Mizuno, and HOKA. Try something new on the run, then tell everyone at the finish whether you’ve found your next pair.
Post-run recovery turns into a mini expo of local favorites and performance goodies:
- Rehydrate with LMNT or crack open a can of Sap’s Hydration
- Spice up your pizza with samples from Yellowbird sauce
- Sample REV gum or mellow out with Yerba Madre
- Enjoy a special-release Central Machine Works brew made just for Global Running Day (for those 21+)
- Get some love for your legs with post-run PT from Empower U, AOK PT, and Eastside Movement Co.
It’s not just about the miles—it’s about giving back and gearing up for what’s next. Onsite you can:
- Support The Trail Conservancy and register for Margarita Run
- Meet new friends and form a squad for the ARC Zilker Relays
- Learn about water accessibility initiatives from Run for the Water
- Connect with Run for the Roses to plot your next 5K or 10K
- Drop off old running shoes for recycling and give them a second life
Limited parking is available on site and street parking is the norm, so carpooling, biking, or arriving early is strongly encouraged. Once you’re there, the rest of the night is easy: run at your own pace, grab a drink or bite, hang with vendors, and watch the sunset over one of the most iconic community runs in town.
Whether you’re chasing a PR, strolling the 1-mile route, or just there for the post-run pint, Austin’s Global Running Day at Central Machine Works is all about celebrating movement, community, and a whole lot of fun between start and finish.
RSVP online to let the organizers know you’re coming and get ready for a midweek run party that feels like a city-wide reunion.
