Welcome to the Austin Nature & Science Center, a hands-on wonderland for nature lovers of all ages, nestled within the scenic Zilker Nature Preserve Dive into the world of Central Texas creatures, fossils, and habitats, all through interactive exhibits and engaging outdoor adventures.

1. Dino Pit Fossil Dig: Unearth your inner paleontologist in the sprawling dino dig zone, where kids can excavate lifelike fossil casts and envision prehistoric creatures that once roamed Texas.
2. Birds of Prey & Wildlife Exhibits: Get up close with rescued hawks, owls, vultures, and mammals—many of whom are animal ambassadors due to injury or special needs. Indoor exhibits in the Small Wonders building showcase tiny native critters in terrariums and aquariums.
3. Naturalist Workshop & Trade Counter: Touch furs, feathers, bones, and rocks in the Workshop, or let budding scientists bring in their own shells, drawings, and fossils to swap for new treasures—a unique, ongoing nature exchange program.
4. Forest Trail: Stroll through a beautiful outdoor path lined with 45 native tree species, perfect for families and aspiring home gardeners to learn about local flora.
5. Hands-On Learning: Creative indoor activities and rotating displays keep every visit fresh, from cave structures and fossil walls to educational games and observation challenges.
6. Totally Free Admission: All ages are welcome to explore for free, making it a favorite local destination for family adventures, school field trips, and curious explorers.

Please keep these tips in mind for your visit:

1. Masks are currently not required on the property
2. Parking is available underneath the Mopac Bridge
3. The entrance is located on Stratford Drive
4. Pets are not allowed on site
5. Please do not bring outside nets, buckets, or other aquatic materials to our creeks and ponds. You can check out free nets and buckets at the front desk to explore!

7. Trade Counter is staffed and open for trades Wednesday-Friday 10:00 am-1:00 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am-4:00 pm, and Sundays 1:00pm - 4:00pm.
