Jose Maria Napoleon - Hasta Siempre. Tour de Despedida
Details
Get ready for an unforgettable night of Latin romanticism as José María Napoleón brings his farewell tour, Hasta Siempre. Tour de Despedida USA 2026, to ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 8:00 pm.
Known as “El Poeta de la Canción” (The Poet of Song), Napoleón is one of the most beloved voices of the balada movement. His music wraps rich, poetic storytelling in sweeping orchestral arrangements, blending the heart of mariachi, ranchera, and bolero with lush strings and timeless melodies. This is the kind of concert where every line feels like a memory and every chorus begs to be sung along.
The show promises a journey across decades of hits, from early classics to more recent favorites. Expect to be transported by songs that helped define Latin romantic music, including the graceful folk-rock textures of his debut single “El Grillo” and the dramatic power of his signature hit “Celos.” These are the anthems that made Napoleón a household name across Mexico and Latin America.
Over the years, Napoleón’s songs such as “Pajarillo,” “Hombre,” “Eres,” “Leña Verde,” “Ven Dame Beso,” “Amiga Mía,” and “Muchacha de Octubre” have become emotional touchstones for multiple generations. His work has been interpreted by legends like Pepe Aguilar, Plácido Domingo, Vicente Fernández, and Pedro Fernández, further cementing his status as one of Latin music’s great songwriters.
His artistic journey is as compelling as his music. Born in 1950 in Aguascalientes to parents of Sephardic and Basque heritage, he discovered his passion for music early, composing “Esta Tarde” for his church choir at just nine years old. Without the resources for formal training, he worked as a mechanic, baker, carpenter, and pharmacy clerk while quietly shaping his craft as a songwriter.
A bold move to Mexico City changed everything. His powerful tenor voice and heartfelt lyrics caught the attention of record executives, leading to his self-titled debut album (later known as El Poeta de la Canción). Throughout the 1970s and early ’80s, he released a string of acclaimed albums like Pajarillo, Hombre, Sin Tu Amor, and María Susana, building a catalog that would become the soundtrack to countless love stories.
Beyond the recording studio, Napoleón brought his charisma to television, appearing in telenovelas and variety shows, and continued evolving musically through collaborations with major labels and projects like Tiempo al Tiempo, ¡Aventurero!, Las Canciones de Mi Vida, Necio Corazón, and Blanco y Negro. His albums Serie Max and Vive hit the Top 10 on the Latin Pop charts, with Vive topping charts in Mexico.
In recognition of his extraordinary career and influence, the Latin Recording Academy honored José María Napoleón with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, placing him alongside the most revered figures in Latin music history.
This farewell concert is more than a performance—it’s a final chapter in a legendary story. Whether you grew up with his records or are just discovering his songs, this is a rare opportunity to experience a master storyteller live, one last time.
