K Flatt & Friends
Details
K Flatt & Friends is turning a Tuesday night into a full-on celebration of groove, resilience, and seriously good music. This special listening-room concert is also a live taping, so you get the rare thrill of being part of a recorded performance while soaking up every note in an intimate jazz-club setting.
Trumpeter and bandleader Kevin Flatt steps into the spotlight for his first K Flatt & Friends show after prostate cancer surgery, coming back with a horn in hand and something to prove. Backed by a stellar lineup of Austin musicians, this sextet leans into melodic, groove-heavy sounds that blur the lines between jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and more.
- Kevin Flatt – Trumpet
- Tony Bray – Saxophone
- Josh Hugo – Guitar
- TBA – Keys
- Chris Loveland – Bass
- Zach Kursman – Drums
Expect a set packed with Kevin’s original tunes alongside hand-picked favorites from a wide range of artists. With over two decades as a trusted sideman and freelance musician, Kevin has built this project as a true labor of love, channeling his deep experience into music that’s both sophisticated and easy to lose yourself in.
Gearheads will appreciate that Kevin performs as an Austin Winds Artist, wielding a Stage470LT brushed copper large-bell trumpet and a custom one-piece gold-plated mouthpiece—tools that help him carve out a warm, expressive tone perfect for this immersive room.
The venue keeps things focused on the music with a whisper-only policy during the taping, creating a true listening-room vibe where every nuance of the ensemble shines. It’s BYOB, with chilled still and sparkling water available to buy, plus ice, cups, and wine keys on hand so you can settle in comfortably and let the band take it from there.
If you’re into richly layered jazz, soulful melodies, and the energy of a band playing with real purpose, this is the kind of night you’ll be talking about long after the last note fades.
